Author Kevin Barry has been longlisted for the Booker Prize for Fiction, a literary prize awarded each year for the best original novel

The nomination is for his book Night Boat to Tangier. described by The Guardian as a ‘darkly comic voyage into the abyss’, it’s about two fading Irish gangsters who discuss their past lives and loves while they wait for a boat, and a missing daughter, in Tangier.  Judges have described it as a “rogue gem of a novel” and “a work of crime fiction not quite like any other”.

Originally from Limerick, Kevin lives in Ballinafad, just outside Boyle.
